WELCOME BACK TO THE 2018/2019 SCHOOL YEAR AT SOUTH MECK!!
The syllabus contains the supply list and class expectations - we will review this on the first day of school.
We will read two novels during the semester and I ask that you purchase your own personal copies because you must annotate within the text. Post-It notes tend to fall out so I strongly urge you to highlight and take annotations right within the text. I will model the method that I use before we begin the novels.
Here are the titles that we will read:
THE GREAT GATSBY - by F Scott Fitzgerald
DEFENDING JACOB - by William Landay

Research Paper Dates:
Topic Selection Form - due 2/8/19 Annotated Bibliography - due 3/1/19/ Outline - due 3/8/19 First Paragraph with Thesis in Bold - due 3/22/19 Rough Draft with Student Generated Graphic & Works Cited - due 4/5/19 Final Draft - due 5/3/19 (This will count for 20% of your 4th Quarter grade) If the final paper is one day late, your grade drops to an 80% before it is graded. Two days late - 70%. Three days late - 50%. NO PAPER WILL BE ACCEPTED AFTER 5/8/19. IF YOU ARE ABSENT ON 5/3/19, YOU MUST SUBMIT AN ELECTRONIC COPY TO ME VIA EMAIL. YOU WILL NOT HAVE 5 DAYS TO TURN IT IN WITHOUT PENALTY. |
